Communication & Media DEI Committee Representative Application

The Department of Communication & Media is seeking self-nominations for one undergraduate student to serve as a representative on the department’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee. The committee is currently comprised of Communication & Media faculty, staff, and graduate students.


Requirements: The position requires the student representative to attend 4-5 committee meetings in the Winter 2023 semester, participate in committee discussions on matters of DEI, and help the committee implement and execute DEI-related initiatives. Students may be asked to help the committee with tasks outside of meetings as well. The student representative will be compensated at a rate of $20 per hour for their time (up to 10 hours for the semester).

Selection: The DEI committee will review and discuss all applications and select one student representative in December 2022. The selected student will be notified soon thereafter.

Position timing: The position will begin in January 2023 and conclude at the end of Winter semester 2023.

Eligibility: Nominees must be declared Communication & Media majors. Any student majoring in Communication & Media is encouraged to apply for the position.
