The Detroit Community-Engaged Research Program (DCERP)

The Detroit Community-Engaged Research Program (DCERP) is a summer fellowship offered by the U-M Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program.  In summer 2023, DCERP students will work full-time on research projects directed by Detroit nonprofits that focus on community priorities such as the environment, food security, youth development, restorative justice, health equity and more!  No prior research experience is necessary. The program specifically seeks students interested in gaining experience working with communities and advancing social justice.

DCERP fellows:

· Work full-time for a nonprofit organization in Detroit on a community-driven research project

· Form a learning community of aspiring change agents that will get to collaborate with each other

· Participate in weekly seminars about social justice issues affecting Detroit and the region

· Receive a $15/hour stipend and are provided dormitory housing in midtown Detroit 

Program dates: June 3, 2023 – August 5, 2023
