Fellowship with The Detroit Community-Engaged Research Program (DCERP)

DCERP is a social justice focused fellowship program run by the University of Michigan Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program.  In summer 2021, DCERP students will work full-time on research projects directed by Detroit nonprofits that focus on community priorities such as environmental health, food security, youth development, human rights, health equity and more!

DCERP fellows:

  • Work full-time for nine weeks (315 hours) on a community-driven research project for a non-profit organization in Detroit 
  • Form a learning community of aspiring change agents that will get to collaborate with each other
  • Participate in weekly seminars about current topics affecting Detroit and the region
  • Blog about their experiences living and working in Detroit
  • Gain critical background knowledge on the history and impact of social justice in Detroit
  • Receive a $2,500 to 3,500 stipend award (amount based on financial need)
  • Live in dormitory housing in midtown Detroit* (*pending U-M guidelines next summer)

Program dates: May 29, 2021- July 31, 2021
